This week we have been studying about early American life, in the 1900's.  History tells us that this era was one of the most significant times of growth and industry. With the influx of European immigrants, the expanding railroad into the West, the industrialization of our nation, the urbanization of so many cities, and so much more, this lesson hopefully will give your kids a peek back into time.

And peeking back into time, is what the homework is all about.

There are four pages of completed research that will be required. The four pages will imitate a "journal." The student is to pick a character from the 1900's, either a famous person (the Wright brothers, Alexander Graham Bell, etc.) or they can be a common person traveling across the Atlantic coming to America for the first time.

The person may be fictional. They will retell a story, from archives they will look up of people entering the United States at that time, and base their character off of the research, or they may study about a real person, and retell their story.

Please do not copy and paste someone else's work into your journal. Just simply research, study the character and retell a story using your own words. Let your imagination be your guide! Please go to "tasks", above, and lets get started!
